I just stumbled across a Limited Edition Boxster! No, really, that’s the official name of the car. They could have named it something unique, like Orange Edition or Code Orange, but ze Germans don’t have much imagination.

Kinja'd!!!

Porsche made 500 Boxster’s (250 base models, and 250 Boxster S’s) in this orange from the 997.1 GT3 RS. And, yes, the official name of the color is just, “Orange.” Because Germans. All the interior bits and the roll bar are painted matching orange.

Original MSRP for this base model Limited Edition: $45,800. That’s extremely cheap for a special edition Porsche.

German colour names are efficient and straight to the point.

Don’t hate on zee Germans. A seeming lack of imagination often has economic roots.

If they had spend five bucks on me picking a name, they would have had something better. But nope, economy .

My favorite example is gelb-grün, which literally means, “yellow-green.”

Not only is orange the new black, it’s my favorite color.

Recall years ago a Porsche Turbo color described as “Arrest Me Red.”

I remember when they launched those at the NY auto show. Though I think the base model started at $49,999 or something like that, just a CH under $50k. Front lip was different from the standard cars, as was the exhaust.

I haven’t seen one since the auto show...nice find!
